Did you always know what you wanted to do when you grew up? You may have been a person who always knew the answer to this. Or maybe you were the individual who needed time to figure it out. Either way, each of us have a God given purpose and calling in life.
My relationship with Jesus is the main artery of inspiration for all I do. He’s at the center of the art that I create, sell and share with my online audience! Over the last couple of years, my relationship with Jesus, my art and my calling is something God has been molding and transforming. There has been such purpose it in and it’s exciting to see what He’s doing in my life and watch it unfold.
As a hand lettering artist my #1 goal has been to glorify Christ, share His love and tell of His life changing power through the words and drawings I illustrate. The plus to all that I create it that it opens the door to conversations with people online and has birthed some wonderful connections and friendships.
New things God is calling me to
So while lettering is the primary reason I started my Instagram account and this website, things are now slowly shifting towards me providing weekly encouragement from God’s Word, creating online Bible study videos, focusing energy on my Passionate Creatives Community and now starting a women’s 6-week discipleship group.
All these areas God has been speaking to me about didn’t come at once! Rather, He has been showing me bit my bit and unfolding His plan for me. To be honest, it’s also taken a little re-reminding and nudging by the Holy Spirit for me to take forward steps in these new areas. Has God been doing that with you? Maybe He’s calling you to something new or different and you’re a little shy to move in that new avenue cause you’re not sure of your capabilities or qualifications. I can most definitely relate to that!
Not a selfie girl!
Can I be honest!?! The transition from simply being the artist behind the scenes to now showing up in front of the camera has NOT been easy for this introverted girl (INFJ)!!!
Newsflash….I did not grow up in the era of the selfies, so being the center of attention has ever been a desire or dream of mine.
Regardless of my shyness, the one thing that has been a constant truth is my love for Jesus and being willing to do and go wherever He leads me. Therefore, any confidence I have now comes directly from the Holy Spirit.
You’re hired!
The same goes for you too my friend. God isn’t calling the perfectly prepared to serve Him. He’s not looking at your resume and judging your qualifications. It’s not a job interview where He’s choosing between you and 50 other people! You know what you’re already hired and chosen my friend. You just have to accept the position! Don’t forget the lives of people we read about in Scripture didn’t always feel qualified to serve the Lord! Even those examples of faith in God, men and women, knew Who their strength was in!
The way I have grown in confidence in what God has called me to is by realizing and accepting that the power to do things for Jesus. I am changed and empowered through the renewing of my mind. Today, I am literally a different person than I was growing up because I have learned to embrace God’s Word for my life and receive it as truth! God is just looking for a willing heart, and obedient heart to say “Yes” to Him. Are you willing to say “Yes” too???
What season are you in?
When I was a new parent the Lord showed me that my biggest ministry was as a mom to my children. God showed me that even in those moments of feeling disqualified to be a mom or successful parent that His Spirit was my strength. By His Spirit I was planting seeds of truth and love in my boys. My ministry as a mother is as meaningful and impactful as if was pastoring or volunteering within the walls of the church.
All of us have been given the call as followers of Jesus to serve the Lord with our lives in every seasons we find ourselves in. So yes, I’m looking at you new mama with your sweet newborn. I’m talking to you too College graduate! I’m especially speaking directly to you creative girl with a paint brush in her hand. I’m talking to every person who is working out of the home or from home as well. No matter your season, your life is a beautiful testimony and profoundly impactful to those around you.
Know where your strength comes from!
So wherever you are at in your journey of life, I want to encourage you to not diminish your powerful influence, impact, and purpose. Remember, your life today and in the future has a significant affect and power in the lives of others because of the One who lives in you and empowers you.
Remember what God’s Word says,
“This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.” Zechariah 4:6
Some thoughts I want to leave you with… how does God want to flow through you in your current life season? Are you filling your life with His Word and encouragement? How does God want to change how you view your “ministry”?
