It’s sometimes a challenge to find just the right gift for those amazing people in our lives. When we can’t think of the perfect present we often resort to giving gift cards to shops or restaurants. Now gift cards are great BUT it speaks volumes when you receive a really thoughtful gift from a friend or family member. It really let’s them know you put some thought in your gift giving.
I have 10 great gift ideas for hand lettering artists and creatives in your life. Now a couple are pricey but the rest are pretty affordable! So let’s get into it….
1.iPad Pro
I got my iPad in 2020 and it is by far a tool I use the most as an artist. Coupled with the Procreate App, this combo has taken my hand lettering art to the next level. Now I know this is pricey but if you know someone who loves to letter or draw and you don’t mind investing some money into their art pursuit, then this is one of the best gifts you can purchase for them.. don’t for the Apple pencil! Having the Apple Pencil is a must if you’re going to buy the iPad Pro. Just make sure to get the correct Apple Pencil as there is a 1st Generation one and 2nd Generation one available.
Below, the iPad image, is a design I created on my iPad using the Apple Pencil in Procreate.
2.Cricut Maker
Now this gift is one that can be useful to so many creatives. The types of projects that can be made with the Cricut Maker are endless. Even though Cricut offers tons of designs for their customers to use on projects…. being a hand lettering artist I can use my own hand lettering on any project. This is what I love about the Cricut! I can cut my lettering on 100+ materials compatible with the Cricut: Vinyl, faux leather, cardstock, paper, and the list goes on. This makes such a wonderful gift!
3. Fudenosuke Small brush Calligraphy pens
These pens were lifesavers for me when I first started my lettering journey. I tried the large brush pens when I initially started learning lettering but they were really hard to use for a newbie. These fudenosuke small brush pens come in a hard tip and soft tip- both great for beginner letterers!
4. Prima Marketing Tropical Watercolor Confections
These are great watercolors that I personally received for a gift recently. They are artist-grade, high-quality and highly pigmented watercolors. I love their vibrancy and they make my floral art look amazing.Using watercolor to create letters and florals has been such a great way to express my creative side.

9. Hand Lettering Books by Jay Roeder
Learning different lettering styles is a must for a lettering artist. The Lettering Alphabets & Artwork by Jay Roeder has been a great resource for me. He not only gives examples different lettering styles he provides actual entire alphabet exemplars (basically A-Z examples of different lettering styles). I’ve been referencing this book for a few years now and it’s always a great refresher whether you’re just starting or have been lettering for a while. Jay has another book out too that looks amazing called “100 Days of Lettering”. This is next on my personal Amazon list to purchase!
10. Sakura Pigma Micron Fineliner Pens
Now these pens are probably my fave fineliner pens to use when I do analog lettering (meaning not digital). The varying sizes are great to have when creating hand lettered art. The best part is that these are waterproof, fade resistant, bleed free, and quick drying! I created the bible journaling traceables below using my Micron pens.
